How’d She Do That
Have you ever wanted to know; “How’d they do that?” Well, in this section I will show you some in-side secrets reveling what was done to achieve what you see in the picture. May this be a help to you so you can create amazing pictures with your Playmobil. If you see something in a picture on this blog and would like to know how we made that, please let me know and if I can explain it I will post it here.
- The fish in the water is achieved by using fishing line and fishing weights. I tied a piece of fishing line around the tail of the fish and then attached the line to a small fishing weight. I did this for each individual fish using various lengths of line so the fish would appear at different levels in the water. I then carefully placed them into the water and gently buried the weight in the sand at the bottom of the pond trying not to make the water muddy. Then it was just a matter of taking the pictures and editing out the fishing line with Photoshop.
- The moss effect in these photos was created by using white crafting glue (Elmer’s glue), static grass and Lichen (You can get this in a craft store). I put the glue on my finger and rubbed it where I wanted the moss to be and then I sprinkled the static grass and small pieces of Lichen over the glue, pressed it down and then let it dry. The nice thing about using this kind of glue is that when you are finished you just wash it off with water and it comes off very easily so you can have your Playmobil parts back to their original condition in a matter of minutes. TIP: Do this over a piece of newspaper so you don’t waste your static grass. You can fold the newspaper and pour the excess grass back into your container.
