The Abandoned Keep

This was a little setting I did for a scene in a story called “The Gift”.  It is an abandoned medieval castle or keep.  These pictures were taken outdoors with natural lighting.  I set up the scene in an old silo we have on our farm.  There is a lot of moss in the silo so it made everything nice and green like it had been there for awhile.

The moss effect in these photos was created by using white crafting glue (Elmer’s glue), static grass and Lichen (You can get this in a craft store). I put the glue on my finger and rubbed it where I wanted the moss to be and then I sprinkled the static grass and small pieces of Lichen over the glue, pressed it down and then let it dry. The nice thing about using this kind of glue is that when you are finished you just wash it off with water and it comes off very easily so you can have your Playmobil parts back to their original condition in a matter of minutes. TIP: Do this over a piece of newspaper so you don’t waste your static grass. You can fold the newspaper and pour the excess grass back into your container.

Here is a glimpse that shows you a look at the setting inside the silo.   It doesn’t look like much from here but when you get behind the lens of the camera it totally changes what you see and your perspective.
